Governing Body
The Governing Body of St. Joseph’s is made up of the Parish Priest, Foundation Governors representing the parish/bishop, Local Education Authority Governors, Staff Governors and an elected Parent Governor. We also have Associate Members who bring a particular area of expertise to the Governing Body. The Head Teacher is also a member of the Governing Body. With exception of the Parish Priest and Head Teacher, Governors serve for four years. The Governors have legal duties, powers and responsibilities for the School and meet as a ‘Full Governing Body’ in school each half term. They work in smaller groups called ‘Committees’ meeting several times per term to focus on specific areas of responsibility. Governors are appointed to approve the curriculum, set standards of behaviour, interview and select staff and agree and monitor the school budget and they work with the Head Teacher to make decisions regarding the running of the school.
