Big Lottery Fund

I am delighted to announce that St Joseph’s School have been awarded a grant from the “Big Lottery Fund” to support our work with families from Poland. The “Razeme” (Together) project has been awarded £134,200 over 5 years to support learning activities for members of our school community. We can now build on the positives from our recent OFSTED report and further improve our children’s learning opportunities. I will provide more details as the project develops enabling us all to learn more and play a fuller part in the life of our learning community.  It has been reported in the Halifax Courier, the Todmorden News and on the Calderdale Council website. I also had a phone interview on Pulse Radio Station for West Yorkshire on Tuesday morning!

Cafod Family Fast

Today Class 4 delivered an excellent message in their CAFOD assembly about ‘Love it, respect it, grow it, live it - Live Simply.’ This year the theme is about green issues and how we look after our world. The Lenten Family fast Day was last week during the half term so we are contributing, in school, by having a non uniform day on Friday 29th February. Each child and member of staff will be asked to dress in green for at least 50p to remind ourselves about green issues and also how we should give generously to those who need our help.

Tree Week

In keeping with the green theme the school are having a ‘Tree Week’ next week organised by Joe from ‘Wildthings Club’. Many lessons will have a tree theme. Treesponsibility are coming into school for a workshop on Monday 25th February working with pupils in years 4 and 5. They will be going to Hebden Bridge one afternoon to plant trees as part of the schools' work for Treesponsibility.
