During the visit, the children explored the library together and were given the opportunity to choose a book to bring back to school. The older pupils supported and guided their younger partners, helping them to feel confident and engaged throughout the experience.

It was wonderful to see such strong examples of kindness, cooperation, and leadership, as well as a shared enthusiasm for reading. Experiences like this not only promote a love of books but also strengthen relationships across our school community.

Our Reception class had a fantastic time taking part in the Mini Olympics held in the afternoon at Todmorden Sports Centre. The event brought together children from a number of local schools for a fun-filled session of friendly competition and teamwork.

The children took part in a range of exciting mini sporting events, testing their skills in running, throwing, and balancing. They showed great enthusiasm, determination, and excellent sportsmanship throughout the afternoon, cheering each other on and giving every activity their very best effort.

We are incredibly proud to share that our Reception class came FIRST overall! 🥇 This is a wonderful achievement and a real testament to their teamwork, positive attitudes, and resilience.

Well done to all of our amazing Reception children – you represented the school brilliantly and should be very proud of yourselves!

The turnout was amazing, and it was lovely to see the classroom filled with smiling faces as families enjoyed breakfast together. The children were so excited to share this special time with their loved ones and were very proud to show them their classroom.

There was a wonderful atmosphere throughout the morning, with plenty of chatting, laughter and special moments being shared. Events like this are a lovely way for us to celebrate the important people in our children’s lives and bring our school community together.

The visit supported the children’s learning in science, helping them to develop their understanding of space while sparking curiosity and enthusiasm. The realistic visuals and engaging presentation captured the children’s attention and brought their classroom learning to life.

Oak Class were a credit to the school throughout the visit, showing excellent behaviour and asking thoughtful questions. It was a memorable experience that inspired awe and wonder and will continue to support learning back in the classroom.

This week, we are shining a light on two members of our school community who make a difference every single day – our wonderful School Cook, Miss Rudman and Assistant Cook, Mrs Cunningham.

From the moment the kitchen lights switch on each morning, they are hard at work preparing nutritious, tasty meals that help keep our pupils energised and ready to learn. Their dedication ensures that every child receives a warm, well-balanced lunch, and they always go the extra mile to make lunchtimes a positive, welcoming experience.

Whether they are planning healthy menus, cooking from scratch, accommodating dietary needs, or simply offering a friendly smile in the dinner hall, their commitment to our children is clear in everything they do.

We are incredibly grateful for all the effort, care, and passion they bring to the heart of our school each day.

The children enjoyed joining in with activities such as building, painting, and playing in the different areas, while parents and carers had the chance to see what life in EYFS is all about.

Each week, students are encouraged to walk to school at least once. They can walk alone, with friends, or with their families. To make it even more exciting, pupils who take part earn stickers, badges, and certificates, helping them track their progress and celebrate their achievements.
