School closed to all pupils except those of key worker parents and vulnerable children.
Following the Prime Minister's announcement on Monday 4th January 2021, we find ourselves in the position once again where we have been instructed to close our school. We are however in a much better position to provide remote learning and know that parents will support their children in the best ways they can at this challenging time.
Our digital platform is Google Classroom and each child will be able to access their daily learning using their own log in details. More than ever, we need to work together to ensure our children can still make as much progress as possible in the weeks ahead.
Teachers will be in regular contact with their pupils both through their learning platforms and through conversations with parents and each child will receive a weekly 1:1 live learning session with their class teacher to check in on the work that has been completed and revisit any areas where support may be needed.
We are only allowed to permit children in school from key worker families and those pupils who may, for many reasons, be considered vulnerable at this time. If you feel that your child is entitled to a place during school closures please contact the school immediately and we will then prioritise places based on those with the greatest need.
Please click here to read a letter jointly from Calderdale's Directors for Children and Young People’s Services and Public Health regarding the demand on school places.
To minimise the risk of transmission, the staggered start and finish times will remain in place and all adults entering the site are asked to please wear a face covering (unless exempt):
Acorns and Beech Classes (Nursery and Reception) Start 9:10 Finish 3:15pm
Cedar and Elm Classes (Y1,2&3) Start 9am Finish 3:20pm
Larch and Oak Classes (Y4,5&6) Start 8:50am Finish 3:30pm
We hope you all stay safe and well during this half term and we will continue to work together for the benefit and safety of our children.
Prayer for a Pandemic
May we who are merely inconvenienced remember those whose lives are at stake.
May we who have no risk factors remember those who are most vulnerable.
May we who have the luxury of working from home respect and support those who must choose between preserving their health or serving others.
May we who have flexibility to care for our children when their schools close remember those who have no options.
May we who have to cancel our trips remember those who have no place to go.
May we who are losing money, remember those that have none.
May we who are frustrated with quarantine at home remember those who have no home.
During this time, when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other, let us each find ways to be the loving embrace of humanity to our neighbours.
Be aware. Be accepting. Be supportive. Be kind.
