WOW - Walk To School

Step Outside, Step Up: Our WOW Walk to School Initiative

At St Joseph’s RC Academy, we are proud to take part in the WOW (Walk Once a Week) Walk to School initiative, encouraging our students and families to choose walking as a fun, healthy, and environmentally-friendly way to start the day.

Walking to school isn’t just about getting from home to school — it’s about building healthy habits, enjoying the fresh air, and making a positive impact on our community. Every step counts, and WOW gives our pupils the chance to take responsibility for their wellbeing while having fun.

🚶 How It Works

Each week, students are encouraged to walk to school at least once. They can walk alone, with friends, or with their families. To make it even more exciting, pupils who take part earn stickers, badges, and certificates, helping them track their progress and celebrate their achievements.

🌟 The Benefits

  • Healthier bodies and minds: Walking boosts energy and focus for the school day ahead.

  • Friendships along the way: Walking together gives students a chance to chat and connect before classes start.

  • Cleaner air: Fewer car journeys help reduce pollution around our school.

  • A sense of community: Children, parents, and staff all contribute to making our school environment safer and more welcoming.
