English (Autumn 1)

This half-term, we are reading King Kong by Anthony Browne. This exciting story follows filmmaker Carl Denham and actress Ann Darrow as they travel to a mysterious island, where they encounter dangerous creatures and the enormous gorilla, King Kong.

Throughout the unit, the children will complete a range of reading and writing activities based on the book. They will explore the characters, settings and key events, while developing skills such as inference, description, dialogue and creating suspense. The unit will culminate in the children writing their own action-packed story ending.
