Oak Class Trip

Oak Class Enjoys Pilgrimage to St Mary’s Church for Jubilee Celebrations

This morning, Oak Class set off on an exciting pilgrimage to St Mary’s Church in Burnley, travelling first by train and then walking to the church. The day began with a special presentation, as the class received their Jubilee Mascot, Luce, and all staff and children were gifted a set of Jubilee rosary beads.

Upon arrival, the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the church was immediately apparent. The Pupil Chaplains led the group in a decade of the Rosary, creating a meaningful start to the day and helping the children feel a strong sense of connection.

Fr Theo then spoke to the students about the Jubilee, sharing insights that were both engaging and thought-provoking. The children were encouraged to reflect on the significance of this special year for their faith community, and Fr Theo’s ability to connect with them brought the topic to life.

One of the highlights of the visit was a quiz designed by Fr David. The children enthusiastically split into groups and explored the church, searching for answers to the questions. This interactive activity not only taught them about the church’s history and the importance of the Jubilee, but also encouraged teamwork and camaraderie among the students.

Following the quiz, Fr Theo led a lively question-and-answer session, where the students’ curiosity and eagerness to learn shone through. The day concluded with a thoughtful blessing from Fr Theo, leaving everyone with a sense of peace and encouragement.

Both priests were exceptional in their interactions with the children, making the pilgrimage a truly memorable experience. The combination of prayer, learning, and community spirit perfectly captured the essence of the Jubilee Year, providing the children with a wonderful opportunity to come together in reflection, friendship, and celebration.
