🏥 Health & Wellbeing

At St Joseph’s RC Academy, we are committed to supporting the health, hygiene, and wellbeing of all our pupils. We work in partnership with parents to ensure children stay healthy and develop good habits that last a lifetime.

🦷 Toothbrushing & Oral Health

As part of our toothbrushing programme, children are taught and supported to brush their teeth properly during the school day. This helps establish good oral hygiene habits early and reinforces the importance of dental care.

🐛 Headlice

Headlice can be a common issue in schools. We ask parents to check their child’s hair regularly and treat them promptly if lice are found. Guidance on detection and treatment is available below.

🤧 Illness & Infection

  • Please keep children at home if they are unwell, especially with contagious illnesses such as vomiting, diarrhoea, or high temperature.

  • Please contact the school office as soon as possible if children will be off school.

  • Children can return to school once they are well and fit to participate fully in activities.

💧 Hand Hygiene

We encourage regular handwashing throughout the school day, particularly before eating and after using the toilet, to reduce the spread of germs and keep everyone healthy.

🥗 Healthy Eating & Hydration

  • We promote healthy eating habits and encourage children to bring a balanced packed lunch or enjoy our school lunches.

  • Children are reminded to drink water regularly throughout the day to stay hydrated.

🩺 Supporting Wellbeing

We support the physical and emotional wellbeing of our pupils through daily routines, PE lessons, and access to staff who can provide guidance and care when needed.
