Mini Vinnies

Turning concern into action.

Mini Vinnies Team 2022-2023

Madeleine, Joshua, Katelyn, Poppy,

Ivy-Rose, Juwariayah, and Niamh

Our Mini Vinnies meet regularly to reflect on their own faith and help develop a child led approach, for the school, to the second aspect of the double commandment: loving our neighbour.

Through their actions, they give witness to a loving God. The highlight how Jesus places himself with the poorest of the poor, and help the school to understand how we can respond with dignity for each of our brothers and sisters in Christ.

The Mini Vinnies have a stronger partnership with our parish SVP. They enjoy sharing ideas together, having lunch together and working together to ensure those within our local community experience the love of Jesus when they most need it.

The Mini Vinnies have established fantastic links with our local food bank. They organise a number of collections for the food bank throughout the year (e.g. Harvest, Reverse Advent Calendar and Saint Joseph's Table). They also visit the food bank to work with volunteers from the food bank as well as inviting those volunteers into school to speak to both the school and parish.

The Mini Vinnies also have links with Caritas Salford. Anthony has visited the school to enjoy lunch with the Mini Vinnies and find out about our annual Gifts for a Baby collection every Epiphany.

Trip to the Foodbank

Our Mini Vinnies have visited the food bank with all the donations from the school and parish from our Harvest celebration. The Mini Vinnies are in conversation with volunteers from the food bank to ensure we can continue to support those within our community.

Remembrance

The Mini Vinnies team have been working hard to collect donations for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. They have helped the school reflect on the importance of remembering those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the cause of freedom and in the service of others.

Lest we forget

Shoe box appeal

The Mini Vinnies have turned their concern into action to show love for our neighbour through collect items for babies aged 0-2 years. The Mini Vinnies continue to support families in our local area and throughout Calderdale.
