The Right Reverend Bishop John Arnold, Eleventh Bishop of Salford
Pope Francis appointed Bishop John Arnold as the Bishop of Salford on Tuesday, 30th September 2014. His installation at Salford Cathedral took place on Monday, 8th December 2014, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
Bishop John has invited all parishes to recognise and develop their missionary identity and respond to the call to evangelise through the programme Hope in the Future
The RE Lead attended the launch on the feast of Saint Francis at Salford Cathedral. Each parish was presented with a San Damiano cross for each church to remember Jesus’ call of Saint Francis to “Rebuild my Church”.

Bishop John, who has also become to be known as Bishop for the Environment, wrote to everyone in Salford Diocese to reflect on the role they can play in responding to climate change. Bishop John asked us all to think global, act local’ and highlighted the impact that making small changes in our personal lives can have.
Bishop John also transformed his home at Wardley Hall into an ambitious flagship project, Laudato Si Centre.
We were very fortunate that Bishop John, who is Chair of CAFOD’s Board of Trustees, visited Saint Joseph’s to present the school the Live Simply award.

November: Children who suffer
We pray for children who are suffering, especially those who are homeless, orphans, and victims of war; may they be guaranteed access to education and the opportunity to experience family affection.
